Love Aaj Kal 2020 | Review nahi, bas charcha

Hey guys...
yeah finally I saw LAK 2 on Netflix. lockdown has almost forced me to binge on lot of movies etc.
I gave it a skipped earlier as the trailer / songs were not that impressive for an Imtiaz Ali movie.
Movie dekh kar koi feeling / Dard mehsoos to nahi hua. Behraal...

Direction :

Imtiaz is a superb director and unfold complex layers of characters beautifully. Like Tamasha was a good example where Ranbir discovers himself ahead of love and how love helps him win over his dreams. The pain , dilemma and frustration/ irritation ... rebellious behavior was depicted well.

LAK 2 me mereko woh connection nahi dikha.
shayad story is weak enough to establish a point.

Narrative style is however very good. The back and forth linkage of Old and new story line bahut achcha hai.
the new story unfolds jaise jaise old story progress hoti.
Art direction is brilliant too. Mazi cafe is uber cool.

Actors :
randeep hooda ne acting nahi ki... he just played with the script seamlessly. showed total control over his act.
so many layers in his charter - from lover boy , to play boy to a middle age man with wisdom

kartik aryan - ab kuch log naraaz honge. he tried to hard... shayad Imtiaz ali ki picture mey acting nikalne ka pressure tha. he acting like a jhalla or the director wanted him to behave like one? mujhey samajh nahi aaya.


Sara ali Khan- was good in parts. par she could not trigger any emotion essential for film dealing with dilemma.  

aarushi sharma has no expressions.



Insights (kuch deep dive)

1. Director showed the innocent young age love realistically.

2. Imtiaz also exploited an important issue nicely. as we grow , we evolve and so does our choice. Hume apne bare mey bahut late pata chalta hai, tab tak sab mata/pita/societal normal etc ke kisab sey hota hai.
our choice of partner might eventually change as well. 

3. Imtiaz has a pattern - pehle pyaar, fir career ka jhool jhal, fir confusion and then back to love. happy ending pakka hai.

4. ek dialog bahut achcha hai...

Jo mai hu aur jo mai hona Chahata tha woh kabi ek nahi ho paye .
Ab mai dhunta hu apne aap ko dusro mey .

yeh hum sabka problem to hai...

nona bachcha sey shanna banane ki journey.


Final take
overall the movie is nice

1. Lacks pace
2. story could be more meaningful ... there is no self discovery either. depth is lacking.
3. haan mey jalat gaana is nice. Par kaun hai galat?
4. acting expect Hooda is ordinary.
