India is becoming a major audience for hollywood, UK , Canada and even Korea.
There are many clues that Extraction has been made with India as center stage in order to increase to wider audience.
1. Shot with an Indian actor.
2. Reference of Indian major cities
3.Netflix smartly adapted it to Hindi and other regional languages.
4. Not sure if I am thinking right or not . The movie has reference point of India and Bangadesh. Mafia , drungs , gangs etc are shown for both the countries. In fact it is everywhere. In US as well. So back to India and Bangadesh.... The later is shown filthy and super corrupt all age group levels. India however is shown to have warmth and care and commitment of a man to protect one's family. Randeep Hooda to yeh karta hai.
5. So is there a deliberate attempt to show India in better light. What do your think ?
6. The emotion behind the story is very Indian... A man who loses his kid to cancer finds his son's reflection in another boy and decides to rescue him , whatever be the cost. He is paid or not or gets shot ... whatever. I am sure this will remind you of Govinda's Hatya , sunny deol' Champion , John Abraham 's Rocky Handsome. Movies from other genre. - Even Mr. India was saving kids. Shahrukh Khan 's Ra One Is another example.
What is truly special in the series :
1. Intense actors like Cris Hemsworth and Randeep Hooda. They have limited dialogues but their intensity does the talking. For an international series , Mr. Hood has a meaty role and a convincing one.
After Avengers popularity all superheros are well recognized in India. Thor played by cris Hemsworth in Rangrok got him many fans in India. Females love him for his looks universally.
2. Desk tadka. Clearly there is an attempt to blend two large film production and viewing countries.
3. Action stunts - I loved them. The extensive use of guns, snipers and unlimited magazines aren't seen before. VFX too for ballistics is good.
4. Possibilities of another part 2, as the last scene hints towards the silhouette of Cris Hemsworth.
Secondly the villain hasn't truly and fully played his evil and vicious cards. These cues indicates a sequel.
Extraction is available on Netflix. A 2 hours movie should be decent entertainer. See the movie and share your comments validating the above or share your perspective.
Like we promised , we don't review the story but we try to find out some unnoticed nuances and insights which is worth a gupshup / charcha with friends.
