Pagalpanti Review : Cartoon movie for toddlers| 1 star

I am marketer by profession and always look at the insights behinds everything. Like what is the product , what does it have for the consumer , what emotions does it trigger , why a certain promotional campaign, why a certain protagonist etc etc.
I saw Pagalpanti and my marketing brain cells got super activated.

Pagalpanti is too gimmicky to tickle any funny bone.
There is a huge difference between being funny and being literally 'insane'.
I am certain that the director Anees Bazmee , who had given many successful films earlier royally ignored the difference between the above two words. Not sure if it was a miss or he took the audience for granted.

Anees looked too confused with the target audience for this script. If the target audiences are kids (for this over the top slapstick comedy), then why show only grow up individuals doing things that a 4 year old will also not do?
In case the audience is slightly mature collegiates and families, then showing cartoonish behaviour is a headache. Like Raj Kishore played by John Abraham does funny (rather stupid) things with a cigarette and sets his own shop rather market on fire. Later in the movie he burns a room with an idiotic attempt to stop a burning curtain. There is more idiocy to the whole thing and one feels like seeing mentally challenged men. Further, the chase scene in a glue truck is horribly done with poor CG.

Screenplay isn't there at all. There is no continuity. Every frame has something desperate to make us laugh.

Amongst the actors the only saving grace is Arshad Warsi. John has miserably failed to make us laugh. Pulkit is good in parts but doesn't have any screen presence. Anil Kapoor is ok. We have seen him in similar roles 10 thousand times. All farce from outside with no substance.
Girls Illeana, Kirti and Urvashi are also there for namesake.
Support cast in terms of Saurabh Shukla and Mukesh Tiwari are decent.
Overall the casting for a slapstick comedy is poor. They needed actors not heros.

Story is flawed too from projecting loosers (all heros) to desh bakhts to an element of Nirav Modi (presented as Niraj Modi). Too much happening.

I also did not like the promotional trailer. It failed in answering why should one see this movie?, what is the possible storyline and who is it for in terms of target audience? Needless to say for a comedy movie trailer, an extra screen time of John will not excite anyone. He is good in intense or action roles.

Give it a skip guys... You will not regret. Overall, a loss making project for the producers I think.
