Housefull4 movie review - 4 stars

Here comes the 4th installment of the Housefull series. Many critics believe that so many writer have actually created a hotch potch and is the weakest in terms of dialogs/story and direction. The so called "blue tick" movie critics have almost rip apart this movie.

Well thats  not true.. As they say "See it to believe it".

Anyways, let's begin with the review.

The movie manages to bring the best Strory so far with some amazing performances. Slapstick comedy is the most difficult genre to write, direct and perform. There are lot of nuances in screenplay and writting that keeps ones engaged  fully. Dialogs are the soul.

While the movie is worth watching atleast twice, it is flawed in some manner if one has to be too critical.

Storyline 

The story of reincarnation is very interesting and fresh. Not many films have been made in this genre especially comedy. It becomes jarring after a while because of over emphasis on Akshay's character, which unlike the other installments of the series where equally placed... all charters got more or less the same screen space. 

Characters in the film

The film is like a mela with lots of characters. While I would say the casting is perfect and each actor suits their assigned roles but they haven't been given a fair chance to perform. Let's go in a bit more detail here...

So there is Akshay, Bobby and Ritesh as main leads but the truth is except Akshay, all other actors are really struggling with their careers. The story writer and director must have thought to ride on Akshay's success streak and give him maximum screen time and that's where the movie becomes jarring.

Akshay is Bala, the prince of yesterday's year and  Harry, a barber in today's era. Both characters aren't explained fully. Bala is shrewd, tyrannical and greedy is explained. But how is a great fighter or is fierce isn't explained. A creative leap unnecessary...

Again there was no need to show his gray hair as Harry in 2019. It doesn't add anything to the storyline. 

Bobby as Dharamputa of 1419 looked very promising as angrakshak / brave soldier... Extremely strong. However, director decided not give his role as more mileage as it could overshadow Akshay's role. 

Bobby as Max looked good but again his role was cut short to give Akshay extra mileage. There is a fight scene where Bobby could have been exploited as a Hulk but he was given just 3 seconds of screen time.

Ritesh as Bangdu and Roy is completed wasted. But he still makes his presence felt with whatever little screen time he gets. 

Heroines in the movie Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hedge and Kriti Kharbanda are for namesake only. However Ms. Sanon impresses with his acting skill and is very natural in front of the camera. 

Villains in the movie like Sharad Kelkar and Rana Duggubati are a super waste... Tall claims with piddly acts. 

Johnny Lever was good as well.

Comedy quotient 

During festivities people like some comedy movies to keep the mood lighter. This movie may not be for intellectuals but for a common man it a stress buster and a must watch with the entire family.. Akshay overall have been very good. Ignore the negative comments around.
I personally saw it thrice.
