Ghayal Once Again disappoints his hardcore fan

One of the most awaited Sunny Deol movie in recent times - Ghayal Once Again.

I am big fan of Sunny Deol personally and did every bit to promote it my twitter handle @movieshuvie

After madly waiting for it for over 6 monthly finally I went to see it today - 5th Feb with my friends with all enthusiasm and super high expectations.

Though I am a fan myself but I have to write truth here i.e. the movie disappoints big time. Yes, it does and it is a pain writing all this below...

There are countless flaws in the movie.
  1. Story - It is old wine in old bottle. Nothing is new. People will not be fooled - it is just a change of bottle that too old. The treatment is obvious. Lot of things are kept for peoples imagination.
    • How can Ajay Mehra marry Meenakshi when he was arrested and was sentenced 14 yrs of jail soon after killing Balwant Rai in Ghayal - 1
    • How can Ajay Mehra have a child when he was in Jail? Is there is a honeymoon suite in jails that we are not aware of?
    • How did he open a press so easily?
    • He drives a SUV and has a big press, a high tech underground base and is decently rich by just running a so called public service press. I mean it is shown as if it is a NGO.
    • How can he go mad/insane over a Meenakshi's death? He was a very strong character as shown in Ghayal 1. He could even survive his brother's brutal murder. How? Why was he shown bald?
    • Why did Meenakshi's father never told Ajay about his daughter?
    • What lead the change of heart (of his daughter) in the end that she called him papa? I mean a scene before she was super upset with him.
    • In last scene the entire police force is standing below the Raj bansal's tower house. Why couldn't they go up and stop the fight ? Why ?
  2. Direction - Direction is very ordinary. Director is suppose to lift performances/scenes and every one is used like props. People came to see Sunny's aura - the action God. The director (Sunny to be blamed) made no attempt to dramatise it. He comes, punches here and there and goes. No dialogues/No Scare/No screams nothing. I mean we went to see Sunny not a Dharmatama. Only home minister (Manoj Joshi) tries to establish Sunny character as insane but it is not replicated by Sunny acts. Sunny has directorial venture Dillagi was well made in terms of establishing character/using their potential and story line.
  3. Actors - Actors aren't used to their potential. Old ones are ignored with very few scenes and new biggies can hardly act. Ex - Om Puri and Tisca are a complete waste. Narendra Jha the villain is talented but hardly any effective scene. Manoj Joshi is good in parts.
  4. Sunny Himself
    • Weakest role so far, No hard hitting dialogues, No dishoom dishoom either.
    • His eyes use to do the talking but unfortunately with age that has faded.
  5. Action
    • Sunny was better off doing his style of action. Dan Bradley made him look so ordinary. Look at how hero's punches are lifter these days. Remember Sallu's movie 'wanted'?  How was Salman introduced, like a God. Sequence goes like this - big talks about the character, then his silhouettes in dark, then the first cracking dialogue and then his first punch... and the janta says WOW.. Not for this movie though.
    • Ajay Mehra has shoot at sight orders on him but he is still able to hijack a helicopter and that too of Raj Bansal, the great villain. How?
    • In a very interesting scene Sunny jumps from one speeding train to another, after being chased by Raj Banshal's security head. It is shown like a miraculous act. Soon after the jump the security head already there in the other train as well. How? I mean really? How?
    • The helicopter scene is simply wasted. What the hell was Ajay trying? Was he trying to scare everyone with his helicopter? was he spilling dripping fuel over Bansal's mega house? If yes, then it disappoints as nothing happens and the helicopter just crashes to his house in one of the floors without a blast.
    • In last scene, few gundas can easy shoot Sunny but they all opt to do fist fight. "we will not shoot you. We will kill you bare hands". Kyun Why???
    • In the last scene he is hit by 2 bullets in his shoulders. He is still able to lift people with those hands, however he limps. Why? Director forgot kahan goli lagi thi?
  6. Songs - Only one song and too not hummable. Background score is the worst so far for any action movie in Bollywood. No goosebumps.
Positive - Only one scene is nice where sunny says main Bansal key empire to tabah kar dunga...

With full respect to Sunny's hardwork, I can give 2/5 stars only (I know I am giving a higher rating).
